WWGI Shield is the Android blocker companion app for approved WWGI Platform members who need a stricter gambling-recovery barrier on their device.
Shield helps reduce access to gambling websites, gambling-related apps, and risky browsing paths. It is designed to support recovery work inside WWGI Platform, not to replace counselling, crisis support, financial advice, legal advice, debt counselling, or professional healthcare.
Shield may use Android VPN service, Device Admin, Accessibility Guard, notifications, battery optimisation exemption, and device-specific background launch settings to maintain a stricter blocker. These permissions are requested only so Shield can create and repair the recovery barrier chosen by the user.
Blocklists and selected Shield text can be updated remotely by WWGI when the configured version changes. This allows safety fixes and wording updates without requiring an app update every time.
Shield is intended to be used by approved WWGI Platform members. It can connect through the protected app bridge when both apps are compatible, or through direct Firebase sign-in to the same WWGI account where the bridge is unavailable.
Shield status, activation, repair, deactivation, uninstall, and unlock-request events may be visible to authorized WWGI moderators or administrators for recovery support, safety follow-up, and audit purposes.
Shield access may require a Google Play subscription unless WWGI has granted an included access route. Cancelling renewal does not immediately disable an active Shield period; access continues until Google Play ends the current trial or paid period.
