WWGI Shield Terms of Use

These terms apply to the WWGI Shield Android app. By installing, subscribing to, activating, or using Shield, you agree to these terms.

Package: com.wwgi.shield Last updated: 21 May 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and Winners Without Gambling International, referred to here as WWGI. If you do not agree, do not activate Shield. If Shield is already active, use the in-app unlock process or contact WWGI support instead of trying to bypass protection.

2. Eligibility and Platform connection

Shield is intended for adults who are approved WWGI Platform members or who receive Shield access through a WWGI-supported recovery process. Shield may verify eligibility through the WWGI Platform bridge or through direct Firebase Auth sign-in using supported methods such as email and password, Google, Facebook, or X where enabled.

3. Strict mode consent

Shield is designed to be difficult to remove while active. Activation may require VPN consent, Device Admin, Accessibility Guard, notification permission, battery optimisation exemption, and manufacturer-specific background launch or autostart settings. These features help reduce uninstall and settings-tampering loopholes.

Turning Shield off may require an unlock request submitted from Shield with a genuine reason and contact details that match the WWGI account. A moderator or administrator may approve the request and send a temporary code to Shield, or reject the request with a reason. Safety events may be logged for accountability and follow-up.

4. Subscriptions, trials, cancellation, and refunds

Shield subscriptions are processed by Google Play. A 7-day trial may be available if Google Play offers it to the account. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled in Google Play before renewal. Cancelling renewal does not instantly turn Shield off; access continues until Google Play ends the current trial or paid period. Refund requests are handled under Google Play refund rules unless WWGI separately agrees in writing.

5. Recovery support, not medical advice

Shield is a digital recovery support tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition. It does not replace counselling, clinical care, financial advice, legal advice, mediation advice, emergency services, or direct support from qualified professionals.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use Shield to monitor or restrict another person's device without lawful permission. You must not attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with, overload, abuse, or bypass Shield, WWGI Platform, Firebase services, Google Play Billing, unlock-code systems, notification systems, remote configuration, blocklists, or protected app bridges.

7. WWGI content and data

WWGI content and data are protected. This includes the WWGI website, Platform and Shield app data, app screens and wording, documentation, designs, names, logos, community recovery stories, comments, media, support material, blocklists, moderation records, Shield data, and content published through WWGI official online presence accounts. Except where allowed by law or by WWGI's prior written consent, you must not copy, scrape, harvest, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, distribute, mirror, archive, sell, license, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, train model systems on, or otherwise exploit WWGI content or member stories outside the intended services.

8. Service limitations and availability

Shield is provided as a recovery barrier on an as-is and as-available basis. WWGI works to maintain useful blocklists and hardening flows, but internet services, Android versions, manufacturers, private DNS settings, browsers, gambling operators, and app stores change over time. Shield may miss content, block content by mistake, require repair after updates, or be limited by Android permissions and manufacturer settings.

9. Updates and termination

WWGI may update Shield, blocklists, UI text, subscriptions, terms, or support processes to improve safety, comply with policy, or maintain the service. WWGI may suspend or end Shield access where required for security, fraud prevention, policy compliance, non-payment, misuse, or legal reasons.

10. Law and contact

To the extent allowed by law, these terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Questions about Shield, subscriptions, privacy, account deletion, or these terms can be sent to developer@wwgi.org.za.
